breakfast porridge

It’s been a while since I’ve put my rice cooker to good use [and since my last post!], but this morning I was feeling like something warm after my workout so I loaded it up before leaving the house, set the timer, and when I returned home I had hot porridge waiting for me.

cinnamon brown rice and oats breakfast porridge

- 1/4 cup short grain brown rice
- 3 T porridge oats with wheat bran**
-  1.5 cups liquid [I used 3/4 cup milk + 3/4 cup water]
- a couple shakes of cinnamon
- dash of vanilla

Rinse the rice, and add everything into your rice cooker, set to porridge setting, preset timer, breakfast is served.

Super easy.

**The porridge oats with wheat bran is just a blend of rolled oats (88%) + wheat bran(12%).

I topped my porridge with fresh strawberries and blueberries.
No sweeteners needed when you have fresh juicy fruit

The short grain brown rice adds a nice chewy texture that goes so well with creaminess of the porridge oats and milk.

Eaten alongside a nice mug of steaming hot coffee + frothy milk.
