WIAW # 6

hi lovies.

Can you believe it’s already Wednesday??
This week is just flying by!

Wednesdays are more than just hump days.

They’re WIAW days!
[all thanks to Jenn! :) - so, THANKS Jenn!]

Peas and Crayons
This morning I started off with what I’ve been eating every morning for breakfast since I made those lemon poppyseed muffins.
1 Barbara’s shredded wheat puff + 1 fig + 1 mini lemon poppyseed muffin

And a handful of blueberries, which I decided to add at the last minute
[yep, thats right. I'm livin on the edge! ;) ]

Then I was off to do some cardio. Today’s class was INTENSE. but in a good way.
I just couldn’t feel my legs afterwards. No big deal.

Then it was snack time. Or 2nd breakfast time.

I picked up a new protein powder yesterday to try.

Spiru-tein High Protein Energy Meal
Chocolate flavor, of course.

I mixed 1 packet of the powder with 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk and 1/2 cup water.

I couldn’t get the lumps out of it, but it was still good.
I just had to chew.
Which was actually kind of like drinking a malted milkshake.

I’m sure putting it in the blender would’ve done the trick.

I have to say, this powder rivals my all time favorite true vitality protein powder.
I’m just not sure about the ingredients of Spiru-tein yet since I couldn’t pronounce half of them.
I think some decoding may be necessary.

Then it was time to try a new bread I picked up from Costco this morning.

Best way to try it is obviously with butter. Almond butter.

a cup of coffee

I approve.

A shower and some errands later…

It was lunch time!

I had my go-to lunch. Egg white + veggies.

Today’s looked more like a pizza. An egg-white pizza?

Spinach + mushrooms + egg whites + tomatoes + cayenne pepper + garlic powder + smoked salt

And some diced avocado.

So since I had something savory of course it was time for something sweet :)

Pineapple to the rescue!

And 2 slices of freeze-dried mango

This stuff is amazing! It’s crunchy like chips.

A little later it was snack time. Again.

I got really hungry when I was driving and I made a sensible choice to find a place where I could find a banana. Then I drove past Yogurtland and the banana went out the window.

Dark chocolate + coconut + oatmeal raisin

Oh.Em.Gee.
The oatmeal raisin was amazing! It tasted JUST like an oatmeal raisin cookie. No joke.

For dinner I had a simple plate of veggies and brown rice.

eggplant + a chinese veggies [the green one on the left] + pickled cabbage + fish [in the middle]

And because I apparently haven’t had enough sweets in one day…
I had a bite of a new chocolate bar I bought today

I have to say I prefer dark chocolate over milk chocolate.  It’s ok though because I totally bought a dark chocolate bar too ;)

And now I need to do some school work.
And pack! – I’m leaving town tomorrow morning and my suitcase is still empty.

Have a good night!

What’s your favorite snack?

Milk, White, or Dark Chocolate?

Any fro-yo lovers out there?

A Weekend Off-line

I don’t do it too often, but this weekend I decided to just unplug and take some time away from my laptop. Sometimes it’s nice to be internet free and just enjoy life without constantly going online and facing that computer screen.

I’ll admit I didn’t go 100% computer free. It was actually a lot harder than I thought! I ended up checking a couple emails and ordering some textbooks for my upcoming school semester. But it was still nice to spend so much time away from my computer, especially now that I’m in between semesters and theres no school to worry about.

Since I got most everything I needed to do finished earlier in the week, it was nice to just hang around with no plans, see friends, watch some tv, read, and just do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted.

My weekend started off with a lovely bowl of pb and jelly. In smoothie form.

I just blended together some frozen blueberries and cherries (I froze some fresh ones the other day – those are the best!) with a cup of unsweetened almond milk, ice cubes, 1/2 T peanut flour and the outcome was this pretty purple smoothie. Topped it off with some blueberry muffin pieces and a light sprinkle of peanut flour.

I think by now, most of you know that I have a slight obsession with pb + jelly and will eat it in any way shape or form. From cookies to oatmeals to smoothies :)

It was one of those weekends this weekend. Where my stomach was a bottomless pit and just couldn’t be satiated no matter how hard I tried. I finally decided to just listen to my body, so this weekend was full of good eats :P

Some foodie highlights this weekend:

Lots of grilling

Yummy baked goods

Many(!) handfuls of fun snacks

Even though I was technically ‘unplugged‘ over the weekend, it didn’t keep me from thinking about moving to a self-hosted site. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I’m still fairly new to the blogging world and not all that tech savvy so any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

Alright, the day is still young and I ‘ve still got a couple things I want to do today so I’ll catch you all later! Have a great Sunday :)

Do you ever take time away from your computer?

What do you love to do on the weekends?

Any advice on self-hosting a blog?

Beating the Heat

I think today is our 38th consecutive day of triple degree weather and according to weather.com, it’s not ending anytime soon. At least not within the next 10 days…

So all I’ve been thinking about lately is how to beat the heat.

Lots of smoothies, iced teas and coffees, and water consumed lately. Gotta stay hydrated!

And now that I finally have ice (!), I tried a new [iced] roasted green tea.

Perfectly refreshing. You know what else is refreshing and a great way to beat the heat?

Popsicles!

And you know what’s better than popsicles?

Homemade popsicles.

Two days ago I received this gift for my birthday…

Obviously, I absolutely loved it! I mean, who doesn’t love popsicles?? :)

It required 24 hours in the freezer before use so I waited patiently all throughout yesterday and was more than ready to make some pops today.

Today I just pour in my flavor and fillings of choice…

And bam! In under 10 mins I got these tasty pops.

Apparently this pop maker works best with natural liquids and fillers which is perfect since I like to keep things less sweet and more natural. I chose to make mine with orange juice, almond milk, chocolate almond milk, yogurt, and fresh fruit.

Since it was my first time making these pops I kept it pretty simple with some faux fudgesicles.

And faux orange creamsicles

The outside is just orange juice and the filling inside is plain yogurt mixed with a splash or two of almond milk.

This zoku pop maker has to be one of the easiest ways to make a quick, refreshing, and healthy treat!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to finish off this creamy chocolaty pop before the heat gets to it first.

What’s your favorite popsicle flavor?

What flavor popsicle would you create?
