I’m always looking for quick and nutrient dense foods that fill me up quickly throughout the day.
Most of the time I keep a couple staples in the fridge and pantry at all times and fixing up a snack or mini-meal becomes quick and easy. It also makes it a lot harder to stray off and do mindless snacking.
My recent favorites have been:
1) low-fat cottage cheese
cottage cheese can be eaten with virtually anything and is so versatile. It can be topped with sweet or savory foods, or it can act as a replacement topper to sour cream, yogurts, & cream cheeses when you don’t have them on hand. I also like to stuff it in french toast as well as stir it into smoothies and oats.
2) part skim ricotta cheese
ricotta and strawberries go together like pb & jelly, but i also like to add it to hot foods because i think the heat brings out it’s best flavors the most.
Warm and melty ricotta = yum.
3) fat free refried beans & 4) nutritional yeast (nooch)
refried beans and nooch are amazing together.
5) bananas
{ fresh & frozen}
bananas are the easiest topper and add natural sweetness to everything; plus frozen bananas make any smoothie (including the experimental ones) good.
What are some of your staple foods?
