one.

One.

That is how many times I have blogged this year. Fail. and it’s already January 30th. 2012 is just flying by!
So much has happened between that 1st post and today so I may need to just start fresh.

Technically, its still a brand new year for me because I just celebrated chinese new year last week on Jan 23.

Thanks to all the red pockets I received, I get to start out this year a little bit richer ;)

It’s the year of the dragon! I’m hoping it will be a good year.

Lots of good eats has been happening lately, but I’ve been completely failing at taking photos so I need to get on that. Especially since I recently purchased a new camera! Sometimes its too difficult to lug around my dslr so I needed a backup and chose the nikon p300 which I’m so far quite enjoying. It’s still no comparison to my cannon rebel, but it’s a great alternative, size-wise.

One of my favorite things about a new year is getting new planners and journals. I’m not really into resolutions and all that, but I do love documenting things. It’s always fun to find old journals when I’m cleaning and re-reading them.

I just picked up a brand new travel journal yesterday and can’t wait to use it!

It even has little random pockets inside to hold little notes and mementos.

I have an upcoming trip planned to Phuket, Thailand and although its short it should be a fun one!

So I’m going to try my best to start blogging on a more regular basis (meaning, not once a month). And since I can’t leave without posting at least one photo of food, here’s what I’m still obsessed with to this day.

I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of eating waffles…

Favorite waffle topping?

welcome twenty twelve

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It’s been awhile!
Apparently in my world two weeks away actually means 1 month. I’ve been meaning to pop in to say ‘hi’, but it’s been a crazy hectic month full of fun and excitement minus 1 piece of unexpected and not so happy news.

But can you believe it’s already a new year??

Welcome 2012!

I hope everyone has been enjoying the holiday season and spending time with family and friends.

The above photo is a view of Hong Kong at midnight last night.

I’m spending my holidays in Hong Kong this year. This is the first christmas and New years I’ve spent here and it’s so different from the beachy Christmases and New Years I’ve had in Hawaii the past years.

For starters, there are SO many people here. And on top of that, apparently Christmas doesn’t end here on the 25th. It’s January 1st and Christmas decorations are still up and music is still blearing. It’s kind of strange and slightly depressing since christmas is long over.

I started out 2012 right with a sweaty sesh at the gym (and lots of good food later on :P )

After the gym I headed to Victoria Park in Causeway Bay where the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo is. It’s basically a huge area where famous brands (mainly foods) from all over Hong Kong and elsewhere come to display and sell their products.
So it’s basically a giant food fest. My kinda scene :)

There were SOO many people there since today is a public holiday for everyone here, and it’s the 2nd to last day of the expo.

Check out the the endless flocks of people!

There was TONS of food.

my fave soup

(but definitely not as good as my moms!)

radish cakes

mussels

egg tarts

egg tarts with durian
(i couldn’t get myself to try this one…)

and soo much more!

After eating, I perused the many aisles and finally gave up looking around because there were just TOO many people.

This is probably not the place to be if you have claustrophobia…

By the time I decided to call it quits, it was already near dinner time and I headed over to Soho for dinner at Bacar with the fam.

They serve tapas and delish pizzas.

We ended up ordering:

Hummus & tabbouleh with pita bread

2 seafood pizzas

a forest mushroom pizza

a roasted garlic & buffalo mozarella pizza

a smokey chicken & oregano pizza – which i forgot to photograph

mussels

Arugula, Avocado & Parmesan Salad with walnut & olive dressing

Very spicy peri-peri chicken strips

Cherry Tomato Linguini with garlic confit & aged parmesan

Rosemary & sea salt potato wedges with balsamic cream

and

5 – 1 liter jugs of champagne punch, beer, and red sangria

I loved that the pizzas were all thin crust and covered with arugula.
so yum.

A fun night indeed.

Now it’s time for bed.

Happy New Year everyone!
May your 2012′s be filled with love and joy :)

Did anyone do anything fun on New Years Eve or Jan 1st??
