Eating Through Providence

Ultra dreary and rainy Providence became sunny and gorgeous Providence this morning.

Yesterday we mostly stayed indoors to stay out of the rain. I had lunch on campus with my sister, then headed over to Panera to get some work done while sipping on some hot black tea.

Dinner was at Broadway Bistro and was fantastic. I wish I could’ve taken a photo of my vegetable gnocchi, but the lighting was so dim I could barely see my own plate. I love restaurants that are locally sourced with a seasonal menu, which is the majority of those in Providence.

After all the food I’ve had these past couple days, I definitely needed to get in some cardio this morning. A quick HIIT workout and I was out of the gym. Yesterday I did mostly upper body weight training so I just stuck to the treadmill this morning.

Then we were on our way to Hingham, MA to catch some golf. Breakfast in the car once again and still going with the cups theme.

Hummus + pretzels

Did you know Sabra has these hummus to-go cups? I didn’t until I found this one in my sisters fridge a couple days ago.

Perfect for dipping and eating in the car.

I also had a fruit cup that just happened to come in a cup. Blueberries + strawberries

After some golf watching we headed over to a nearby plaza, Derby Street Shoppes, for a late lunch. I chose ‘b good‘, a fast food restaurant, but get this! – It’s a locally sourced and all natural (ex: their beef is grass fed with no hormones or antibiotics). They literally have a board in the store that shows which farms each of their products came from. My kinda fast food!

I had the veggie burger on a wheat bun with a side of crisp veggies which I sprinkled with malt vinegar.

We need ‘b good’ out in Texas! – too bad it’s a Boston based chain.

All charged up from lunch we headed to the Wrentham Village outlets for some shopping. It was a HUGE outlet mall with so many stores you could probably spend at least a full day there. I’m usually all shopped out within a couple hours so by 8:30pm we started heading back to Providence for dinner.

I ended up getting a new pair of Vince Camuto flats which I desperately needed! The pair I was wearing was nearing its death stage. So near that I threw them away before leaving the store.

Much better. There’s actually some cushion now between my feet and the ground.

Late dinner was at Providence Oyster Bar. Obviously at a place named oyster bar we HAD to get some oysters.

6 poppasquash oysters (rhode islan native) and two cherrystone clams.

Super fresh!

For my main I had the cod with spinach.

Now I’m heading back to the hotel and hopefully getting some work done.

Tomorrow is our last full day here and we’re planning on starting it off with brunch at a very popular spot here. Excited :)

Night! ;)

  1. Nice shoes :) And really tasty looking meals! I would kill for a bunch of strawberries now :D Sunny Providence looks really lovely, and the second picture reminds me of Woody Allen movies, not sure why :)

    • Thanks Lenna! I think those may have been some of my last summer strawberries. That first taste of them next summer will be wonderful! ;P

  2. This reminds me of a TV show called Providence that I used to LOVE when I was younger :)
All the food you ate looks great! I wish I could see the gnocchi though-that sounds amazing!
    Enjoy your Sunday :*
