Eat, Winery, Taste, Repeat

Ahh sorry for the large lapse of time where I pretty much just disappeared. Lifes just been happening and I’ve been catching up on everything since I returned back to the states on Friday evening.

But back to Bordeaux

Monday - day 2 - we visited more wineries.

First up - Chateau d’Yquem

We did a tour there as well as a tasting.

Ever cellar we visited smells exactly like Kombucha. Love that smell!

We were there just in time to see them harvesting the grapes!

See these moldy grapes?

It’s what they purposely try to get to make the sweet wine.  The process is all very interesting and I now know why one bottle is so highly priced. There is so much that goes into making that one perfect bottle.

Lunch was at Cafe Lavinal a super cute little french cafe.

Tomato and Goat Cheese Salad

Grilled Vegetable son a Puff Pasty

Everything in France is always so incredibly fresh tasting.

I skipped dessert at lunch because as much as I want to, I can’t handle three course meals every meal.

Too.Much.Food.

Next up was - Chateau Cos d’Estournel

Where we did a quick tasting and tour.
The inside was a little more modern and had a completely different feel from the previous Chateau’s we had visited.

After this visit, we did a quick drive by Chateau La Fite Rothschild

Then it was onto - Chateau Mouton Rothschild

For another tasting and tour.

We ended our night at Chateau Guiraud in Saturnes.

Where they were hosting their inaugural Mid-Autumn Festival event. The event was to celebrate the Mid-Autum festival as well as to pair the mooncake with the Chateau’s wine.

The place was set up beautifully and there were even telescopes all over the lawn to view the moon at its fullest.

At the end of the night we lit lanterns, made wishes, and floated them into the sky. Not exactly a Hong Kong tradition (I believe it’s from Taiwan), but it was so much fun!

Make a wish! :)
